What are the Differences?

Restylane® is an incredibly versatile dermal filler that can improve the appearance of almost everything, from crow’s feet to neck lines to thin lips. It’s so versatile, in fact, that Restylane developed additional versions—Restylane Lyft and Restylane Silk—which concentrate more on specific areas.

Which Restylane formula is perfect for you? It depends on what you want to accomplish.

Restylane Lyft®: Best for Signs of Aging

Restylane Lyft is best at lifting and holding volume, so it’s typically recommended for patients 35 to 60 years old in order to improve a drooping face and other telltale signs of aging. It’s particularly useful for wrinkles, lines, and folds that are more severe, and helps erase smile lines, lift jowls, smooth the jawline, and give a voluminous lift to the face.

As we get older, we can experience sunken or hollow temples and cheeks as well, which Restylane Lyft helps to correct. It can even be used for a non-surgical nose job.

Restylane Lyft basically helps get rid of the “tired” or “angry” look that appears on the face with age. It’s also a great first-time filler because it can be reversed if you don’t like the results.

Restylane Silk®: Best for Lips

Much lighter than Restylane Lyft, Restylane Silk is a thinner, smoother filler that provides less volume than Restylane Lyft, yet still works very well for improving fine lines.

Used primarily as a lip enhancer, Restylane Silk offers natural-looking results for fuller lips that last longer than other options. Our lips move a lot—talking, laughing, eating, singing, kissing—and other fillers often tend to wear away faster. However, Restylane Silk has better longevity. Whether you’re younger with not-so-full lips or you’re older and your lips are losing their volume and shape due, Restylane Silk is a wonderful option. It’s also great for treating crow’s feet, forehead lines, and neck lines.

Restylane: Best for Under the Eyes

If you want something that’s in between Restylane Silk and Restylane Lyft, Restylane is a good choice. It doesn’t have as much “hold” as Restylane Lyft but has more than Restylane Silk. It provides significant results for creases and fine lines, and it originally gained a lot of attention and praise for its ability to treat dark circles, bags, and hollows underneath the eye area. Like Restylane Lyft and Silk, original Restylane is FDA approved and made from hyaluronic acid (a.k.a. “nature’s filler”). Not only is it an in-between of Restylane Lyft and Restylane Silk in its substance; it’s also an in-between in how long it lasts.

When choosing between dermal fillers, it truly depends on what your goals are. A good specialist will be able to guide you, answer questions, and help you decide on the right filler for you. If you’re younger but want fuller lips, Restylane Silk is perfect for you. If you want to improve the bags under your eyes, the original Restylane is a better choice. Or if your feel that your entire face looks tired and saggy, Restylane Lyft is probably best for you.
